1st JASIC-India Information Exchange Meeting Held in Japan

 

The 1st JASIC-India Information Exchange Meeting, organized by JASIC, was held at Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo on 21 October 2009. It was attended bya 39 people from related organizations from Japan and India.

At the Information Exchange Meeting, the representatives of India presented an overview of the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP), a project that is being undertaken by India to strengthen the automotive industry, and reported the progress of discussions toward India’s accession to the 1958 Agreement.

The attendees from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the JASIC, representing Japan, explained Japan’s automobile standard harmonization activities and the concept of International Whole Vehicle Type Approval (IWVTA), which Japan plans to propose at WP.29.

Japan and India agreed that they need to hold similar meetings to exchange information in the future.
