Overview
At the Vehicle Standard Harmonization Sub-Group Meeting (VSHG), which is working to promote harmonization of vehicle standards under APEC TPTWG (Transportation Working Group), JASIC introduced its activities towards the harmonization and mutual recognition of vehicle regulations in Asia as well as those towards establishing the system for reciprocally accepting international vehicle approvals, which is JASIC’s long-term objective. Mr. Peter Robertson, General Manager of Australia’s Vehicle Safety Standards Branch, who served as Deputy Chair at this meeting, expressed his appreciation for JASIC’s contribution in Asia and his expectation for its activities for expanding mutual recognition of standards relating to vehicle parts/devices, currently in effect, to recognition of standards relating to the whole vehicles.

In addition, it was agreed that the future VSHG activities would include sharing the UN/WP.29-related information, exchanging information on each country/economy’s status of ECE Regulation adoption, and discussing technical issues.
