As part of the 2005 Motor Vehicle Technical
Regulation and Certification Cooperation Project, consigned by
the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the "Advanced
Training Course on Motor Vehicle Technical Regulation and Certification"
was held from July 19 to July 29. The objective is to promote
knowledge and technology necessary for international activities
aimed at achieving international harmonization of vehicle safety
and environmental standards, and mutual recognition of approvals,
in the countries of Asia.
It significantly contributes to facilitate the environmental protection
and traffic safety in their country through fostering and encouraging
the representatives of the Asian government officials.
The course covered the significance of vehicle regulation harmonization
and of mutual recognition of approvals and presented an outline
of related international activities to a total of 9 attendants,
2 trainees each from the 2 countries (Indonesia, Philippines),
1 trainee each from China, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and
1 observer from Saudi Arabia. During the period of about for the
two weeks, trainees strenuously attended lectures, presented their
country report presentation, practiced conducting automobile type-approval
tests and tests for compliance with general safety regulations,
all in an effort to gain knowledge toward the establishment of
motor vehicle technical regulation and certification systems in
their respective countries.
It is highly anticipated that the all trainees shall become a
sturdy bridge to connect Japan and Asian countries and for the
mutual brilliant prosperity.
