JASIC Asia Expert Meeting on the safety of two-wheeled vehicles held in Thailand

 


On 4 and 5 June 2008, an expert meeting on the safety of two-wheeled vehicles, organized by the Department of Land Transport (DLT) of Thailand, was held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Organizer: The Department of Land Transport (DLT), Ministry of Transport, Thailand
Participants: About 50 from the DLT of Thailand, TISI, TAI, TAIA, TAPMA, certification test laboratories, motor vehicle industry circles in Indonesia, JASIC, etc.

At the beginning of the meeting, the DLT of Thailand and Thai Automotive Industry Association (TAIA) made a report on the program to introduce the ECE regulations in future. In this presentation, they explained that after the approval of the Ministerial Regulation concerning the Initiation of the Operation of the ECE Type Approval System (Ministerial Regulation No.22) in 2008, the ECE regulations will be gradually introduced to the country from 2010 onwards.
After that, JASIC gave a detailed explanation on the certification procedures, marking requirements, testing instruments and technical requirements of each regulation, using PowerPoint presentations and videos of actual testing. Also, with the cooperation of lighting equipment manufacturers, samples of ECE-approved lights were exhibited at the venue, which was well-received by the participants.
During the question and answer sessions, many questions and comments were given on the test methods, measurement equipment, certification procedures, movements of the United Nations GR, etc. The meeting turned out to be very fruitful.
