UNECE/WP.29/GRPE's WWH-OBD Informal Meeting Held at JASIC

JASIC convened the UNECE/WP.29/GRPE's informal meeting on WWH-OBD for three days on 6-8 March 2006. The purpose of the informal meeting, which has been chaired by Japan, is to develop the WWH-OBD gtr. The current meeting was attended by a total of 12 participants, including government representatives from the U.S., Canada, Germany and EU, automobile industry representatives from Europe and North America, and experts from Japan.

Since its first meeting in June 2002, the WWH-OBD informal group has been developing the gtr on heavy-duty OBD (on-board diagnostics) for about four years. At the current meeting, the final discussion regarding submission of the draft gtr to GRPE was held, and on 17 March the final draft was submitted to the UN Secretariat. The draft is expected to be issued as a formal document to be discussed at the 52nd session of GRPE in June 2006.
