Advanced Training Course on
Motor Vehicle Technical Regulation and Certification for 2003
|
As part of the 2003 Motor Vehicle Technical Regulation and Certification
Cooperation Project, consigned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure
and Transport, the "Advanced Training Course on Motor Vehicle
Technical Regulation and Certification" was held from July 22
to August 1. The objective was to acquire knowledge and technology
necessary for international activities aimed at achieving international
harmonization of vehicle safety and environmental standards, and mutual
recognition of approvals, in the countries of Asia. The course covered
the significance of vehicle regulation harmonization and of mutual
recognition of approvals and presented an outline of related international
activities to a total of 13 attendants, 3 trainees each from 3 countries
(Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines), 1 trainee each from China, Malaysia,
and Vietnam (for a total of 12 trainees) and 1 observer from Saudi
Arabia. What is more, in an "Inspection/Maintenance Course",
newly-established last year, individualized training specializing
in the inspections and maintenance was offered this year, too. Over
a period of about two weeks, trainees attended lectures, presented
country reports, practiced conducting automobile type-approval tests
and tests for compliance with general safety regulations, all in an
effort to gain knowledge toward the establishment of motor vehicle
technical regulation and certification systems in their respective
countries.
